A field-based ceramics workshop exploring local wild clay, from gathering earth to wood-fired test pieces.
Led by researcher, artisan and educator Alejandro Villacis, this outdoor workshop in Kapedes follows wild clay from the landscape through a connected process of making and firing. No previous ceramics experience is needed.
- Walk and map the terrain to locate and gather wild clay.
- Refine the clay and hand-form test pieces.
- Fire samples in a wood-fired kiln.
- Open the kiln, compare results and develop a material archive.
The practice explores geology, ecology and time through locally sourced earth materials. Capacity is limited for focused exchange; attending both weekends is recommended.
